SUMMER

Most summer tasks take place between April and October.
Some tasks take place year-round; you'll find them listed on the winter page as well.
CUTTING GRASS
With the widest selection of grass-cutting machinery in Shetland, we are capable of tackling lawns, sports-fields, rough areas and amenity ground. We deliver an efficient, competitive, high-quality service.
Most of the gardens we cut are scheduled for approximately ten visits over the course of the summer, using rotary pedestrian-controlled equipment. Large areas (including sports fields) are typically cut on a weekly basis with larger machinery. Ornamental turf is cut twice per week, using cylinder mowers. We will tailor the standard of work to suit your needs.
TRIMMING HEDGES (summer)
We use powerful petrol hedgetrimmers. With both handheld and long-reach-pole models, we offer an efficient and cost-effective means of keeping your hedges neat and tidy.
We will tailor timing and frequency of cut according to your type of shrub, and to suit your requirements.
Some hedge-trimming work is best undertaken in the winter.
WEEDKILLING
Weed-spraying staff are N.P.T.C. certified.
Areas are usually sprayed twice per year.
Typically, sprayed areas are safe for pets, animals and children. We do recommend, however, that efforts are made to keep children and pets off the treated area for an hour or so, immediately following application.
BUILD & SOW NEW LAWNS
A decent lawn considerably enhances a property. Establishing a new lawn is a particularly satisfying task, and we have the necessary tools and expertise to deliver excellent results and value-for-money. Our largest project to date has been preparing and sowing the grassy areas around the care centre in Unst.
WEEDING, GARDENING & LITTER-PICKING
We can perform regular maintenance, or tackle long-neglected jungles!
For some specialist gardening work, we will sub-contract to tree-surgeons, garden-designers and landscapers as required, to meet your needs.
LAWN RENOVATION
Sometimes it takes a little more than simply mowing the lawn regularly to keep it in good condition.
If you’re not happy with the general condition of your lawn, we’ll be pleased to do what we can to help improve its health and appearance. As may be required, we can reduce infiltration of weeds & moss, improve drainage & aeration, flatten out bumps, cut back the edge where it meets paths and borders, and so forth. |
